Picnics and tourist meetings are frequent event in summer time. Most people prefer to spend at least a couple of days on fresh air rather than stay at home. It’s a pleasure that members of “Republican Association of Wheelchair Users” have got such an opportunity.
3-5 of august the 3-rd Republican tourist camp of wheelchair users took place near Mozyr city.
8 teams from different parts of Belarus : Mozyr, Gomel, Choyniki, Zhlobin, Bobruysk , Minsk, Vitebsk, Svetlohorsk took part in this event.
Disabled people have acquired a rare chance to spend some days in nature, while setting up of such an activity by themselves seems to be very complicated.
All the participant of tourist camp had a chance to have a nice time among their friends and get a lot of positive emotions for the whole year.
The program of event consisted of sports competitions and simply relaxing in fresh air. There were competitions in various types presented thereby everyone could find something suitable. The participants of tent camp competed in such kinds of sports as shooting, darts, fishery, obstacle course. Taking part in sports competition assisted disabled people in recognizing of active lifestyle as available for every social group of people. The main barrier each man has is a psychological barrier, the one which was created in human’s mind.
Except from sports competitions the guests of tourist camp managed to take part in various games and contests: culinary duel, “crocodile” game, everyday life’s organization contest, “a blink of fortune” lottery. Being concerned in such a campaign contributed to wheelchair users’ abstraction from everyday routine and helped disabled people to feel free. Here everybody were getting positive mood and had a chance to show his talents and abilities.
Games, contests and other entertainment is a great pleasure, but at the same time all these activities demand a lot of energy. Hereby in sport breaks the participants were preparing their “energy supplies”– meals and snacks. This activity also brought a lot of positive emotions to the participants, while cooking at home and cooking in fresh air are absolutely different things. Home-cooked cereal has nothing to do with that once cooked in fresh air on fire.
In afterlunch time all the guests were enabled with water activities– swimming and floating the pontoons.
For those who wished to get closer to the nature there was an opportunity to watch it through the telescope.
Discotheque in the evening let all the guests plunge into warm and friendly atmosphere accompanied with pleasant music.
This weekend was very active for wheelchair users. None of the participants left the event without gifts, and winners were awarded with valuable prizes. But the most precious present for all the participants was great number of positive emotions and impressions, meeting with old friends and making new acquaintance.
Teams from Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania have already applied for taking part in this event in the following year. Everyone has an opportunity to get a feeling of freedom!
